Jamison Galt is the founding pastor of Resurrection Clinton Hill. He hails from everywhere, or nowhere—depending on your perspective—having grown up in Florida, California, Washington State, North Carolina, and Texas, in that order. Jamison eventually graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with his degree in English Literature and a focus on creative writing. He received his Master of Divinity from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. From 2006 to 2010 Jamison served as an assistant pastor at Resurrection Park Slope, during which time he completed Redeemer Presbyterian’s church planting Fellows Program under Pastor Timothy Keller and others. Jamison was ordained here in Brooklyn on Pentecost Sunday, 2007. For fun Jamison likes to cook, write, make music, do immersive theater, and bike all over NYC.
Now that the boring part is over, let’s get to the good stuff. Jamison has been married to Laura (formerly McKey) since 2001. Laura is from Hazlehurst, Mississippi which is as small as it sounds. She graduated with a degree in Psychology from Mississippi State University. Having served two of her college summers in Ukraine she continued her missionary trajectory after college by moving to the foreign country of Texas to do campus ministry with Reformed University Ministries at UT Austin. She asked Jamison to take her dancing and the rest is history. Laura also received her Master of Arts in Theology from Covenant Seminary. Jamison and Laura have four children: twins Arthur and Adaline, and Tihun and Solomon whom they adopted from Ethiopia in 2010. They are hard not to hear when walking around their favorite neighborhood: Clinton Hill, Brooklyn.
